Datasets from Portuguese Parliament

These are datasets pertaining to the Portuguese Parliament, featuring publicly available info on MP's, as well as parliamentary transcripts in an open format.

This information can be found at the official Portuguese Parliament website, but not only is it rather hard to navigate, it's also only available in HTML. We built scrapers to download all public information and re-format them into proper CSV datasets, going all the way back into the beginning of the 3rd Portuguese Republic (1976).

We released many of these datasets for Document Freedom Day (30 March 2011), after more than 6 months of work gathering and re-arranging the information. No formal institution or public body was involved -- this is a citizen effort by the Transparência Hackday Porto collective.
