My Family Lineage

This data set comes from the data entered into a MediaWiki website at: http://my-family-lineage.com/wiki/Main_Page The data can be uploaded from a GEDCOM ( Genealogical Data Communication - common format for communication between different genealogy programs, which each have their own internal formats) file, or a person can manually enter data into form fields. This data if it comes from a GEDCOM file import will be converted to RDF format. If it is entered on the website, then Semantic Forms and Templates are used to align values with various RDF Classes, Properties and Object values.

We use popular vocabularies, like Dublin Core, FOAF, BIO (a vocabulary for describing biographical information as events), REL (Relationships), and GEDCOM X which defines factTypes.

This data is also added or loaded into (Inserted into) a triple store and assigned to a data set called 'my-family-lineage.' We are using Fuseki and the TDB triple store in the Jena package.

The wiki application currently reports over 3.2 Million triples. Our data is also stored in the Fuseki Triple Store which also provides a SPARQL endpoint. Data describing Events in a person or family's life are described with a Place for the event. The Places named graph has about 50,000 triples, of which 7318 are links to other data sets that are part of the LOD Cloud, including DBpedia, Freebase, Yago, and Geonames.
