It examines the search behavior of users of Plurk, a popular social networking service in Taiwan. We refine and apply a theoretical model of health beliefs to identify factors that significantly affect search behavior for health information, after performing regression analysis on data from an online questionnaire with 107 effective respondents over a two-week period in May 2010.We find that the behavior of the majority of Plurkers seeking health information was influenced by three key factors: trust, social influence, and perceived barriers to taking action. These results offer suggestions for ways to increase public use of important health information.
