Smart transportation is largely supported in China. Average driving speed in most cities falls below 20km/h, even 7 to 8km/h for some roads. Smart transportation is the best solution to the traffic problems caused by fast economic development. This paper mainly discusses how we can cultivate outstanding talents of smart transportation in university education. Starting from student admission, teaching method and course content, to the mechanism of student cultivation, this paper describes an effective program for the training of cross-disciplinary smart transportation talents in the fields of public transportation and software development.
